Jonathan Yang

deacon

Jonathan grew up in Orange Country and was raised in Chinese and Taiwanese churches. He became a Christian thanks to an early exposure to the gospel and through sermons he found on YouTube. From then on, a zeal for evangelism, apologetics, and missions quickly developed.

Jonathan studied microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics at UCLA for his bachelor’s degree and then attended medical school in Cleveland, Ohio where he led a campus Bible study for the Cleveland Chinese Christian Church’s English congregation. While in Ohio, he met his future wife, April. They married in 2019 and then spent time in Boston for Jonathan’s internal medicine residency before moving to the Bay Area. Jonathan now works as a pulmonologist and intensive care physician in Palo Alto.

Among Jonathan’s passions are missions and college ministry. He serves as the leader for New Life’s campus ministry at Santa Clara University (New Life on Campus). In his spare time, he enjoys aquariums, bird-watching, and coming up with wild accents and voices when reading books to his two toddler-aged sons.
